A MacOS (OS-X) driver to reset the ethernet port after waking from sleep
Often when waking a MacPro 2013 from sleep, I found the Ethernet network had been disconnected. There are a few similar reports on the internet, but no solution. The symptoms were:
Wired internet access was via Ethernet (en0). I noticed that issuing the following terminal commands also temporarily resolved the issue:
sudu ifconfig en0 down
sudo ifconfig en0 up
I wrote software to automatically issue the above commands, five seconds after waking from sleep. The software is preconfigured for Built-in Ethernet (en0). You may download an installer for the software. I offer no warranty for this software; use at your own risk.
There is a lot of talk on the internet of a similar WiFi issue. I do not have a MacBook and do not know if the two issues are related. If you are able to verify the two are related, please let me know and I will create a specific installer for WiFi users*
* You can verify this by changing the network port in the LaunchDaemon plist file, after the software has been installed. You also will need to reload the software. If you don't know about these things, please do not try.
